Bring Out the Tools!
Row By Row
We're breaking our section into three separate pieces, and we want to assemble each of these sections one 'row' at a time. Essentially, we're stacking the raised garden 3 boards high, each row consisting of 1x6 treated lumber, for a total garden height of about 18". To begin, we cut all the boards needed to make ONE row of the frame, and began assembling the pieces.
Using pressure-treated 4"x4" posts, begin laying out how the frame would look, being sure to lay it all out upside down. The first row that you put together will actually be the TOP row once it's flipped over and placed out in the yard. This takes all the guesswork out of trying to make everything level, allowing you to focus on building the frame and less time spent measuring and leveling.
